TIE Portfolio

This portfolio includes a belief statement, the projects completed for each class, my reflections on each project, the standards matrix and the annotated bibliography. This portfolio represents all the hard work that went into completing the Technology in Education Program.

I began the TIE program to further my knowledge and to help ensure that I would stay in my position as computer Teacher/Technology Coordinator at my school. I had been in that position for more than fifteen years. After my TIE classes began, I was notified that my position in the computer lab was eliminated and that I would be in a regular eighth grade classroom at the start of the new school year. This school year has found me in a regular fourth grade classroom and has given me a renewed appreciation for classroom teachers. The TIE program has increased my knowledge in the areas of teaching, learning, and technology integration and has allowed me to use some of my completed projects with my students. The TIE program has also taught me that the goal of teaching should be to provide students with meaningful learning. This goal requires training, sustained support, and additional financial resources, which is not likely to come from either Washington or Springfield in the near future. The TIE program has taught me how technology can be used to enhance learning. The completion of the TIE program will enable me to acquire a technology position and it will give me the opportunity to help teachers use technology more effectively in their teaching practice.

I want to thank my family and friends for their support over the last two years. I also want to thank my fellow students for their help and support over these two demanding years and lastly I would like to thank my professors for their guidance and encouragement.
