CLAUBERG, CARL: SS doctor, infamous for his brutal experiments in sterilizing Jewish women at the Auschwitz extermination camp during WW II. Arrested and tried by the Russians at the end of the war, Clauberg served only 7 of his 25 year sentence. He died before he could be prosecuted in West Germany.
A professor of gynecology and obstetrics and an enthusiastic Nazi, Carl Clauberg experimented with mass sterilization techniques on Jewish and Gypsy women in Auschwitz and Ravensbruk concentration camps. Using no anesthetic, he injected substances into the wombs of Jewish and Gypsy women. His human guinea pigs suffered unbearable pain and irreversible physical damage. After the war, he boasted of his scientific achievements.
